WHAT HAPPENED?

After being booked earlier in the game, the Portuguese coach reacted furiously at a refereeing decision and was subsequently sent off for dissent in his team's first match of 2024. Mourinho and his players refused to speak to the media after the 1-1 draw.

It is not the first time Mourinho has been shown a red card on the touchline this season. He was given a straight red card in October for mocking the Monza bench and then landed himself in hot water last month when his comments about a referee resulted in a €40,000 fine.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea manager will likely be suspended for his team's upcoming Serie A clash against AC Milan next Sunday. However, he may be on the touchline in the game before that as his side take on Lazio in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.
